 Tranquillity--Aliveness Peace--Joy Stillpoint--Movement
There is enough darkness in the world. I choose to paint the Light. I paint the music that I see and that I feel is inherent in everything, music which is fife. May you see deeper into yourself and into the world, the underlying invisible parts, because of my art.
I often use the circle as a symbol for peace: complete, whole, the still- point. Stillpoints are stopping places. They draw you into other dimensions. They are powerful and energizing in their stillness. They leave you refreshed and feeling alive and "tuned in".
Joy is expressed with the aliveness of the lines and colors and shapes. The lines, etc., bring out the stillness and peace of the circle and the circle plays off and accents the movement and joy in the lines, shapes and colors, creating a tension that flows back and forth between the two opposites. I sometimes simplify to capture the essence of the subject.
The watercolors emerge with no prior idea or theme. As soon as paint is applied to paper they begin the process of telling me what to do next. At some point in this process I become aware of a deeper meaning and they become symbolic. I then keep this in mind as I continue. Color is most important to me but the work decides the colors.
